Set on a remarkable homesite with sweeping 360-degree views, the Steamboat Residence was designed to fully embrace its surroundings while creating a comfortable retreat for a multi-generational family. The 6,800 square foot home includes five bedrooms and reflects a mountain modern style with warm materials, wood floors and ceilings, expansive windows, and natural stone that connect the home to the surrounding landscape.

Outdoor living played a central role in the design process. In fact, the outdoor spaces were the first elements designed, with the home organized around them. The lower-level covered patio features firepit seating and a custom designed hot tub, creating a comfortable place to relax while taking in sweeping valley views. Above, a large sliding door extends the living space outdoors onto a covered deck with seating around a firepit, exterior dining with infrared heaters and an outdoor kitchen, making it ideal for gathering and entertaining throughout the year.

Inside, large windows frame the surrounding landscape from nearly every room. The living and dining areas look south to west toward the Flat Tops, while the kitchen and adjacent lounging nook are oriented toward Steamboat Ski Resort with views of the ski mountain and gondola.

Designed to support multiple generations, the home balances shared spaces with areas for privacy and retreat. The great room serves as the main gathering space, while additional rooms including a family room with a tv area, pool table and bar, a flexible gym that can convert into a bedroom, and a dedicated Zoom Room provide space for work, recreation, and quiet moments. The primary suite is positioned along the southern edge of the home, creating a private retreat with beautiful down-valley views.

An open steel staircase connects the levels of the home, adding a sculptural focal point while reinforcing the openness of the interior spaces. Together, the home’s materials, views, and thoughtful layout create a welcoming mountain residence designed for gathering, connection, and enjoying the beauty of Steamboat in every season.
